About Twilight Stud

Twilights Stud is situated in Vereeniging Gauteng, about 20km from Walkerville and an hours drive from Kyalami JHB.

Contrary to popular believe our stud name did not originate from the book/movie series "The Twilight Saga", it actually got its name from the time of day know as dawn (aka twilight). Its the time of day you get a beautiful golden glow just before the sun sets - that is where our stud name came from.

At Twilight Stud we aim to follow the KWPN (Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands) breed requirements in our horses: “... horses with international appeal. It is willing, fearless, physically and mentally strong, and bred to perform at the highest level. It is also reliable, easy to handle, and pleasing to the eye. Likewise, it aims to breed healthy horses that happily and easily do what is expected of them”.

We strive to breed superior quality warmbloods for all disciplines from proven imported and local bloodlines. Uncomplicated temperaments are essential in our horses.  Top class conformation, 3 very good gaits, elasticity, talent, sound in body and mind, good working attitude and a little something special. We firmly believe that an above average mare base is of utmost importance as this can either make or break a stallion-mare combination. Thus Twilights Stud strives to breed for Quality rather than Quantity.

We are agents for imported semen from some TOP international competing stallions abroad under world class riders such as Meredith Michaels Beerbaum and Marcus Ehning. The highest German approved Cremello stallion competing at 1.40m level show jumping  and CSI* are among these stallions. Please email us for more information about these stallions.

Twilight stud also finds local and imported horses for clients, taking care to find the perfect match! All arrangements and paperwork will be done for our clients who import horses!

We also offer intensive training trips to Europe.  Participants will get lessons from 1.40m Argentinian Show Jumping Rider Matias Cueto Tonnelier, now based in Sweden.  (Dressage Training can be arranged) Please see the TRAINING page in the submenu for more info on Matias.
